”Add the depth of Ally Sheedy,
                  the bravado of Catherine Keener
with the pizzazz of Amy Sedaris”

                  Hello there,

Thanks for stopping by to read a bit about me.

I’m grateful to have developed a diverse range of characters -- deadly serious to slacker zany -- in a variety of media across cultures. The element that unites them: Accessible beauty and vulnerability behind a protective shell.

In “When Harry Tries to Marry” (dir. Nayan Padrai, releasing April 2011) I was Angela, a pregnant model who fights to make a lasting connection with her estranged boyfriend. I allow him to see my pain (and my pregnancy) and we end up happily married.

In 2009’s “Flick’s Chicks,” (dir. James Tucker and Josh Nelson) as Alex I played a guarded woman searching for love via a competition of sorts. Alex stood out from the other suitors because she allowed the bachelorette see her true self.

On stage, I portrayed Hannah Arendt in “On the Border”(Medicine Show Theater). As the extraordinary German philosopher, I maintained an academic’s emotional distance while pleading with a good friend to save his life.

My first solo show, “Queens Girl,” toured worldwide and received accolades from Pat McCorkle and Kate Bornstein, my two amazing mentors. A few characters have evolved out of the show to appear in various short videos, in addition to sketches that were performed in Rome, Italy.
Currently I’m at work on my second solo show – stay tuned for updates!

Off-screen, I write solo shows and produce short films. Over/Under Productions, which I founded with Kelsy Chauvin, is releasing its fourth short, “Reality Check,” in 2011 in which I star as a sweet-yet-conniving courier.

I entered the entertainment industry because I was compelled to create my own unique voice in the world. I found the ideal medium in acting and writing.  It is my intention to create work that inspires people to laugh more, -- whether through laughter or tears -- and to challenge people to be themselves, perfectly.

                  With warm gusto,

                  Lauren
