                  Queens Girl

Performed in Stockholm, New York City, Portland, New Orleans, San Francisco and Oakland.

“Queens Girl” is a biting look at how to fit in with family while standing out in the crowd. The multimedia show has Lauren transforming into her confused mother, bitter sister, old-school grandparents, and some hard-coiffed Queens folk. Driven to see what else is out there, Lauren breaks out of New York’s outermost outer borough and floats through the ‘rugby years’ of New England college, discovers drag in San Francisco, and finally embraces her inner flamboyance at Bombay fashion week—coincidentally, all places where her sexuality could be explored via hairstyle.

Lauren weaves her story with an irony that makes you cringe, sympathize and laugh. She distills each character with blunt humor, showing how Howard Beach small-mindedness drove her to an expansive world view. Her own journey is paralleled by Diana, a Depression-era fringe character Lauren weaves into her personal story. It goes to show: No matter which era we live in, we’re all on the lookout for ways to be dazzling!  Come see a tale where nobody needs to understand each other, because after all, we’re family.

                  The Reviews

"Lauren's story may be nontraditional, but it's her 'traditional' family's point of view that gives this show such life...a fascinating story made most memorable by the characters she brings to tell it."
-Pat McCorkle, Casting Director and Emmy Award Nominee

“Lauren LoGiudice is a charming, talented actor, and Skinny Girl is a thoroughly enjoyable solo show.... LoGiudice weaves a multi-character story of stretching the boundaries of family, culture, and gender. The show delivers a surprisingly satisfying and uplifting evening of theater. I laughed, I marveled. I left the theater grinning. What more can you ask of live theater than that? Oh! It SO totally doesn't hurt that LAUREN LoGUIDICE IS A COMPLETE BABE. No, really. Great show, amazing babe—one small price of admission. Run, don't walk. Sit up front. Say hello from me.
                  kiss, kiss"
-Kate Bornstein, author, Hello Cruel World

"She brings to the task a strong sense of theatre, a pliant and versatile physicality, and a quick witted writer's awareness. Even in its earliest incarnations, Queens Girl was a powerful piece of theatre. Lauren is articulate, funny, and thoughtful in her investigation of the forces at play."
