Living Drag Fabulous With Kevin Aviance {Misfits Makin' It podcast}

I was the host of the night shift at Restaurant Florent: from midnight to eight in the morning. Up at that hour you need the music to be just right to keep you going and there’s one artist who was played frequently: Kevin Aviance. My co-workers made sure I knew: Kevin is a nightlife legend. If you’ve ever grooved to “Cunty” (recently sampled by Beyoncé) or “Rhythm Is My Bitch,” or his other Billboard #1 hits, you know that his music creations give you that feeling you get when you’re still dancing when the sun is coming up. Kevin has also spoken up on Queer issues and is an unabashed drag artist when the art form is under attack. In short he is a DRAG king. But not a drag king, a drag queen. But, like, the king of the queens. Or maybe the queen of the queens? Or maybe all of those things! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Interviewing Kevin was one of the greatest honors I’ve been lucky to have; I was giddy, and I’ve interviewed a lot of fancy-ass people. We talked about life and art, how to thrive in show businesses and this crazy-ass world. Here’s the link to listen to directly.
